Goat Simulator: MMO Simulator – Review

Coffee Stain Studios, the company behind the well known Goat Simulator franchise, has yet again brought another Goat Simulator app to the App Store & Google Play. The developers are truly innovative in their ideas, and that is what essentially led their games to rise to fame. They think the unthinkable and bring the non-existent to life on our screens; that is exactly what was done with their new app, Goat Simulator: MMO Simulator [$4.99]. Now, it is utterly important that you read this review fully before you buy this game because it is not exactly what it seems to be and we don’t want you to pay for something you didn’t want.

Goat MMO Simulator is, in fact, not a real online experience but it simulates or appears to be an online experience. It has different goats that appear to be real players because of their random names such as ”NuclearThroneIsAwsm” or ”Zombiekiller955”, and there is a chat on the bottom of the screen that gives you the sense that people are really chatting. It is all a facade to make you think it is an MMO like Order & Chaos or Kingdom Conquest.

When we bought the game, we honestly didn’t think it would deliver such a genuine MMO experience, when all it really was is an offline game. You have to give credit to Coffee Stain Studios, they indeed managed to portray it into something it was not. However, the bad side to this is that some players paid for this game thinking it was an online experience. We cannot blame the developers for this since the game title says ”MMO Simulator” and the word simulate means to imitate or pretend to be.

Nevertheless, this new title is absolutely fun and worth playing. Had we not told you it is not a real MMO you wouldn’t have found out from the first few hours of playing it. It simulates the experience quite well and gives you the sense that you are not playing alone. Having said that, the game brings a lot of new content to the Goat Simulator universe. There is a large world to explore with interesting places such as GOATSHIRE, OLD GOAT MOUNTAIN, and TWISTRAM.

The map is really massive and will take you a lot of time to explore it. It has a lot of elements from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter that will cheer you up. For example, you get to see dwarves and elves which is very peculiar in a game where you play as a goat! In addition, there is a wizard called Dumbledore The Grey (spelled DumbleDoor) located in TWISTRAM who asks you about completing a quest to open ”The Portal.” The game, as any MMO, has a lot of quests that you can complete and many of them are really fun.

Right at the beginning you get to choose from five different classes: Warrior, Rouge, Magician, Hunter, and Microwave. We played all of them and they are all fun and unique. For example, if you choose to be a Microwave Goat, you look like a microwave with humanoid legs and get to cause explosions that will send you flying. While the Magician Goat wears a magician’s costume with the ability to throw fire balls and toss magic cards as well. Each unique class is fun to try out and you can change your class any time you wish in the game. Of course, these are not the only ones you can choose; you can unlock many more as you progress in the game.

One of the best things about the game is its graphics. You will see wonderful sceneries with vibrant colours and detailed visuals that give you the sense that this game is a high quality product. We very much loved the game’s physics which look almost realistic with the way the characters move and how objects react when interacted with.

The game’s controls are very similar to previous Goat Simulator titles where the left side of the screen is used to move and the right side of the screen is used to look around. The movement button can be enlarged via Options if needed. Overall, the controls felt very responsive and fluid, both on iPhone and iPad.

Finally, if you ever wanted a Goat Simulator experience where you get to sense the thrill of online interaction, then nothing simulates it better than this title. For its novel MMO-like experience, gripping vibrant visuals, endless entertainment possibilities, and prolonged engaging gameplay; Goat MMO Simulator becomes an experience never before existed but very much needed. We can only imagine the fun insanity if it was a real online experience, but unfortunately it is not. On the other hand, you get to engage in epic battles against big monsters and live the fantasy every goat dreams of. Once every decade comes a title built on great imagination and if any developer is crazy enough to dream big, its Coffee Stain Studios. You can watch the trailer for this game below.

We rate it 9.2/10
