When did you last hear of an octopus masquerading as a human? Probably never! Young Horses Inc. brings to you today just that. Octodad: Dadliest Catch [$6.49] was first released on console in 2014/15 which is a sequel to the 2010 freeware title Octodad. The game of today is about fatherhood and deception; two strange concepts that usually do not come together. You will be in the shoes of Octodad, an octopus that is struggling to fulfill the responsibilities of a father without his human family knowing that he is an octopus.
It is a unique plot, we honestly haven’t crossed by a story of an octopus posing as a father. While he is good at disguise, he comes under fire from a mad chef that wants him dead. So avoiding being killed is just another task on your daddy list. The game is very entertaining mainly because of the funny concept and the interesting gameplay.
In terms of controls, it felt like it was hard to control on touch screen. When you try to move the octopus, he moves inaccurately with a drunken effect, damaging all that is within his vicinity; his wobbly movement makes you feel like you want to smack him. Controlling his tentacle hands is tough as well, but we can’t expect it to be easy considering that he is an octopus.
The game can be best compared to Goat Simulator in a way with its silly and humorous nature. While it is out on the App Store now, it is expected to be released for Apple TV very soon. As for Android, it should be available by November 4th. Can you fool your suspicious wife and kids by acting like a real father? You decide.
