April has been a great month so far. We have noticed that most of the games coming out this month happen to be gorgeous, artistic, and provoking. Tormentum: Dark Sorrow [$4.99] is an ideal manifestation of our argument brought to you by OhNoo Studio. The point & click adventure game is one that is built upon a nightmarish world that almost makes Dante’s Inferno look like a circus. Inspired by the works of H. R. Giger & Zdzislaw Beksinski, it evokes a dark atmosphere that paints an image to depression itself.
Tormentum: Dark Sorrow was released on Steam in early 2015 and is priced at $11.99. Fortunately, mobile gamers get to buy it much cheaper. Pricing is a factor that the mobile platform will always beat PC & Console at. The story of this game tells of a nameless hero that awakes to find himself trapped in a metal cage. The protagonist is on his way to a castle where he will serve time for sins that he does not remember. Not knowing his name, origin, or crimes; he wanders through strange lands to discover the truth behind what’s happening.
There are 3 realms which you can explore; each with their own unique environment, architecture, and creatures. In your journey you will stumble upon characters that will either help you or stop you from accomplishing your objectives. With 75 hand-painted stages, over a hundred screens, and dozens of paintings; Tormentum: Dark Sorrow proves to be one of the darkest yet gorgeous game of this year.
Finally, there are over 40 soundtracks which aid in building an accurate atmosphere that is consistent with the game’s world. The ending of the game will be affected by your moral choices, so it can be quite an interesting adventure for those who are willing to put their sanity to the test. You can expect 4 – 6 hours of gameplay but they well be hours well spent. Don’t forget to watch the official launch trailer for this game below.
