We have noticed that extremely successful gaming companies utilize books or comics to expand the world of a franchise. We have seen how Chair Entertainment managed to have Infinity Blade books published, and how Rayark embraced the comic world to expand upon the Implosion universe. Both games are RPG games but what is interesting is that Wargaming is also working on a comic series for the World of Tanks franchise.
For a tank game, this is a unique move by the company. The comic series, World of Tanks: Roll Out, is based on the history behind the prominent tanks and will be published by Dark Horse Comics. It will be written by Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Punisher), illustrated by Carlos Ezquerra (Judge Dredd). The covers will be illustrated by Isaac Hannaford (The Punisher, Halo: Reach). The comic series will consist of five issues and will be available in comic book stores across the US & Europe during Autumn.
World of Tanks: Roll Out is set in the summer of 1944 during the tanks battles that took place between the British & the Germans. We will see how the German Panthers faced off against the British Cromwells in post D-Day Normandy. The first comic issue is priced at $3.99 and the other issues will be released on a monthly manner following the first issue.
