Update 1.1 was severely criticized by many Pokemon GO players due to many people’s accounts being reset. After all the effort and time players put into this game, it is truly devastating to have your account gone, as if it never existed. However, there’s good news, so cheer up! Niantic was aware of this issue and immediately responded that ”all your gameplay progess has not been lost.”
Basically, Niantic updated their Google Account login system and that’s why you are seeing this issue occur. The problem may be caused if you have unintentionally created another Google account and the system may have recognized it instead. To solve this problem, try to login with your original Gmail account. If you still experience this issue, then please follow the steps provided by Niantic below:
- Either uninstall and reinstall the Pokémon GO app or sign out of your account (Pokémon GO>Main Menu>Settings>Sign Out)
- NOTE: You may need to sign out of your account twice to ensure proper log out before signing back in with your correct account.
- Open Pokémon GO and select the Google login method.
- You will be redirected to the Safari web browser to complete the login process.
- Review the email address listed in the top right corner of the page. Ensure that the Google account presented is the same email address used when you originally created your Pokémon GO account. If the email address does not match the email address used to create your Pokémon GO account, please sign out of Google and log back in with the appropriate account.
- Touch the “Allow” button and you will be redirected back to the Pokémon GO app.
These were instructions provided by Niantic and it seems to have fixed the problem. To sum up everything, log out of the Pokemon GO app twice and even try deleting the app. Then redownload it and log in again via Gmail.
