Excitement is rising and players are practicing as the time for the World Championship draws near. Blizzard has unveiled the details surrounding Hearthstone‘s next World Championship and we want to tell you more about it. It will start with a group stage during the Opening Week on October 26th – 30th. Each group is composed of four competitors, one from each of the regions selected: Americas, Europe, China, and Asia-Pacific. These groups were selected because they qualified through the Seasonal Championships within their regions.
This is a huge championship with a prize pool of 1 million dollars, the biggest yet. The format is based on the best-of-seven Conquest format with one ban. Each player can use five decks to play each match and opponents can ban one card from the other’s deck. In addition, the group stage will be based on a double-elimination process with two competitors advancing from each group to participate in a single-eliminiation stage.
On November 4th (during Blizzcon), the Quarterfinals will take place while the Semi-Finals and Grand-Finals are scheduled for November 5th. The winner will receive a prize of $250,000; the 2nd will receive $150,000; the 3rd & 4th will receive $100,000. This will all be live at Hearthstone‘s official Twitch channel which you can visit by clicking here. Stay tuned with our website for the latest news on Hearthstone.
